The team of Babes Blagoevgrad won the final series of the National Championship 2007, against the last year’s champions Athletic Sofia. Babes ended up the series with 2 games to 1 and results from the games 4:5, 5:2, 9:0. In game number 1 Athletic won dramatically in the last inning when while Babes were leading 4:2 Nadezhda Pavlova from Athletic hit a 3-run-homerun to end the game in favor of Athletic.
In game number 2, played on Porter Park field in Blagoevgrad, the team of Babes led during the whole game. In the 6th inning the players of Athletic reduced the score but this was all they were capable of.
In the deciding game number 3, on the field in 73rd school in Sofia, the team of Babes dominated. The players got the initiative from the beginning and didn’t let it slip till the end. With good offensive play and excellent defense thanks of their pitcher and playing coach Aleksandrina Bogdanova, Babes congratulated themselves with their 4th Championship title.
These were the first 2 losses for the team of Athletic for the whole season. In the end of September the last year’s champions won the Cup of Bulgaria for 4th consecutive time.
This gives the right to the teams of Babes and Athletic to participate in the next year’s European Cup Competitions for the European Cup and the European Cup Winner’s Cup respectively. 
In the series for 3rd place the team of Angels Dupnitsa beat the team of Akademiks Sofia with 2:1 games and results in the series 8:6, 4:17, 5:3.

The Athletics won play-off 1 against the Angels with 2:0 and results 14:3 and 9:3. The players from Angels made good performances but as a whole they couldn’t counteract to the Athletic’s offence.

In play-off 2 the team of Babes Blagoevgrad met a stronger opposition in the team of the Akademiks Sofia. In the end Babes won supported by few players who came back for the 2nd half of the season. The Akademiks gave their best but the youth and inexperience of half of the team had an impact.
Biggest contribution for the final win of the Babes gave their pitcher and playing coach Aleksandrina Bogdanova.
Daniela Kirilova hit a homerun for the Akademiks.
Babes won the play-off with 2:0 and results 8:5 and 5:1.

On the 14th and 15th of April the monthly practices of the Women’s National team took place. Since the beginning of the year the team is gathering for practices once a month. This time the Greek National team was our guest. They were invited by BSF for training games for practice and selection of the teams. Ms. Linda Wells – coach of the Greek Olympic Softball team – was manager of the team and Mr. Kostas Theodoridis and Mr. Yanis Stamatopoulos were her assistants.
Besides the 3 games played during the weekend Ms. Wells took time to give instructions to our pitchers. She looked thoroughly at all of them and gave them lots of useful advices.
Considering the present form of the teams, the performance of our team was estimated as very good, no matter that all 3 games were won by our southern neighbors.
Coach Wells said the games were very useful for the preparation of her team. Greece will participate in the European Championship Women A at the end of May in Holland as well as on the Olympic Qualifier Europe/Africa at the beginning of June, where the team is in one pool with the teams of BULGARIA, Great Britain, Czech Republic, Russia and Nigeria.
BSF and the coaches thank the Hellenic Softball Federation for accepting our invitation and we hope our collaboration will continue in the future.
